Parasite-S is an approved parasiticide for the control of external parasites on all finfish and penaeid shrimp, and for the control of fungus on all finfish eggs and all freshwater-reared finfish. . New users are encouraged to seek advice from a fish health professional prior to using this product. PARASITE-S (formalin) is manufactured in FDA and Health Canada approved and inspected production facilities. The use of other grades of formaldehyde on fish may be in violation of FDA and Health Canada regulations as outlined in FDA Reminder to Aquaculture Producers Regarding Approved Formaldehyde.
COLD WEATHER NOTICE – Parasite-S is temperature sensitive and should not be allowed to reach temperatures below 40 degrees F. Regional weather conditions vary greatly and Syndel advises that all formalin users should to stock up on product prior to the cold weather season. Exposure to high concentrations of formaldehyde vapor causes severe respiratory irritation which can be life-threatening. In laboratory animals, formaldehyde has demonstrated the potential to cause reproductive and developmental toxicities at high dose. Contains methanol –cannot be made non-poisonous. Prolonged exposure to methanol has been associated with reproduction disorders. Do not subject PARASITE-S to temperatures below 40°F (4.4°C). PARASITE-S subjected to temperatures below 40°F causes the formation of paraformaldehyde, a substance which is toxic to fish. Heavily parasitized or diseased fish or penaeid shrimp often have a greatly reduced tolerance to Parasite-S. Therefore, time and dosage may need to be reduced.
CAUTION – combustible, carcinogenic, toxic substance. Store in a well-ventilated secure area away from heat with the lid tightly closed.
Wear all appropriate PPE when handling this product. If exposed, flush with clean water and consult a medical professional immediately. May cause skin, eye, and organ damage.
