The use of hormones to induce gamete maturation (ovulation and spermiation) and spawning in fishes is crucial to the success of many aquaculture and wild stock fisheries programs.
Luteinizing Hormone – Releasing Hormone analogue (des-Gly10, [D-Ala6] LH-RH Ethylamide) or LHRHa is a peptide that is similar in structure to native luteinizing hormone-releasing hormones (LHRH). LHRHa has both biological activity and low species specificity in fish, making it appropriate for use on a variety of fish species. Gamete maturation can be induced by a variety of hormones.
LHRHa is available in a Powder form. The product must be weighed out and dissolved in sterile saline, prior to being administered to fish as an intraperitoneal (IP) or intramuscular (IM) injection
In the United States, if the intended LHRHa use is to treat food fish, or fish for release into the wild, then it must be used according to the FDA’s guidelines. For more information please contact us.
